Akita

Akita Prefecture is located in northwestern Tohoku facing the Sea of Japan, ranking among the top prefectures nationally for forest coverage, with diverse natural landscapes including World Heritage Shirakami-Sanchi and Lake Tazawa, Japan's deepest lake. Festivals throughout the four seasons, such as the summer Kanto Festival and winter Namahage rituals, are still inherited as living cultural traditions. Known as a rice-producing region, local cuisine featuring brand rice Akita Komachi, Hinai-jidori chicken, and Hatahata fish has fans nationwide. With the Akita Shinkansen and Akita Airport converging in the central prefecture, access from the Tokyo metropolitan area is also convenient.
