Wakayama
Wakayama Prefecture is a treasure trove of nature blessed with the warm climate brought by the Kuroshio Current and rich forests of the Kii Mountains. The western side features rias coastlines and white sand beaches, while the southern part includes Cape Shiono, mainland Japan's southernmost point. Historic sites of faith represented by Mount Koya and Kumano Sanzan are registered as the World Heritage Site 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.' While the northern part forms part of the Hanshin Industrial Zone, fruit cultivation including oranges and Nanko plums thrives throughout the prefecture, earning it the title 'Fruit Kingdom.' Tourism resources are diverse, including Shirahama Onsen, Adventure World, and Nachi Falls. Forestry culture known since ancient times as 'Land of Wood' and seafood nurtured by fisheries are also attractive.
