Kagawa
Blessed with the warm, low-rainfall Seto Inland Sea climate, half of the prefecture's land is occupied by the Sanuki Plain. The density of irrigation ponds is the highest in Japan, reflecting a long history of water resource management. Sanuki udon noodles with firm texture are the staple food, with the highest consumption per capita in Japan. While promoting itself as 'Udon Prefecture,' the region also boasts distinctive primary industries including olive cultivation and yellowtail aquaculture. The Seto Ohashi Bridge directly connects the region to Honshu via rail and road, and Takamatsu City serves as Shikoku's business hub. Islands such as Naoshima and Teshima have become world-renowned tourist destinations with concentrated contemporary art installations.
